After seeing all the RT*M comments I was afraid to ask anything but I'll take a deep breath and ask anyway. I'm developing an e-commerce site with MySQL (3.23.32),php (4.0.4) & Perl (5.0.6) running under Apache (1.3.17 i think). This is all under Win95 from work and Win98 from home. I'm trying to get php to work but after tweeking the httpd.conf file, Apache tells me i have a syntax error at line so-n-so where i say ;LoadModule php4_module modules/php4apache.dll. Apache will run if i comment this line out but then, obviously, php won't work. Is my syntax wrong or is the error somewhere else ???

Don't you think posting the exact syntax error here is more appropriate?
>> LoadModule php4_module modules/php4apache.dll
Since I don't know the syntax error, All I could do is guessing. Make sure the modules directory is a relative directory under your ServerRoot.
Please repost with more info so others who are familiar with Apache under win32 environment can give you a hand (not me though).
the exact error is:
Syntax error on line 169 of d:/abria/apache/conf/httpd.conf:
Cannot load d:/abria/apache/modules/php4apache.dll into server:
