Does anybody out there know how many pixels are in an inch? Or how many pixels wide the letter "O" or any other letter is? I know that 600 x 800 is the number of pixels for a specific resolution but I want to get a little bit more detailed that that. I'm compliing some images and text in a table and I want to make sure it'll stay in the specific location that I desire.
To specify the cell widths and heights I was looking for a round about pixel number to use for the text.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Maybe a webpage with some info...?

the size of a pixel is device dependant
a screen is usually considered to be 72ppi (pixels per inch)
where as a a high quality laser printer might have
2400ppi
thats why images off webpages look like crap when you print them
The size of the letter O is dependant on the font style, type size and device you are displaying it on.
the only way to make text appear in a guaranteed location is to turn it into graphics

if the image that you are using is going to be used for the web remember that images take longer to download then plain text. And the size of the image displayed on the screen regardless of it's format (image, text) will still depend on the resolution of the screen.

As bumperbox said, the size of a pixel is device AND resolution dependant.
Device, meaning hardware: the monitor, printer, scanner, etc.
Resolution, meaning, how many pixels are used to represent an image. If you use a lot of pixels (high resolution) you can have a lot of information to describe a picture, with lots of detail, but youŽll end up with a huge (lots of bytes) graphic.
Low resolution (like in web graphics) can only use as much as 72 pixels per inch. In the old days, it meant that if you used a ruler to measure a square made of 72x72 pixels in your monitor, the exact size was 1inchx1inch. That was in a Macintosh system, cause Windows used 96 pixels per inch.
