Site critique please!

I just wanted to get some feedback on the design of www.Jobjr.com (http://www.Jobjr.com) .

1. Overall look.

2. Load time with different connections.

3. Colors

4. Any other idea's.

Thanks,
Brandon

Looks good, but I have one suggestion:

Get a faster server

It took me at least a minute to load with a cable connection in Toronto, Canada.

I can't get to the site with Netscape

Not Found

The requested URL /themes/amigoz-net/style/styleNN.css was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

DJ: Thanks for the info. I am on a cable connection in California, and the site pops up quick for me, but I'm not the one that's important. The site loads quite a few graphics for the tables, so Im going to try and cut back a little on those loading.

ZABU: Thanks for letting me know the Netscape issue. I have fixed it now, however the main body text on the main page is a little large, so Im trying to make it a little smaller for Netscape now.

Thanks for the replies,
Brandon

The page only took about 5 seconds to load, with a cable connection from Belgium. Nice layout too. I wouldn't change it all too much...

looks good - nice and crisp and professional, which is what you want for a job related site.

it took about 15secs for me to load on ISDN in the UK with IE5, maybe 20 by the time all the little corner images had come up.

I like the top and bottom lines on rollover of links - I've not seen that before.

Only negative - the various oranges seem a little inconsistent, but then that's just my personal preference. :)

mrdon, nm mind about my post... it took less than 2 seconds to load everyting this time :)

looks great!

tvbruwae , prospero , DJdrenaline : Thanks for taking a look at the site and for the info you've given me.

Any other info would be greatly appreciated.
Brandon

1. Overall look.

Look's Good.

2. Load time with different connections.

Fine, from a cable connection in the Netherlands loading goes fast enough.

3. Colors

Fine.

4. Any other idea's.

Content is the most important value of a site. far more important than design or speed. The site looks good now, before adding features you should add content.

Also try to promote your site as good as you can, because you don't have enough members yet!

bizzk , thanks for the info and taking the time to check out the site.

I am still finishing up on a few programming issues, and then the content will come. We will also be focusing heavily on promoting the site. I think it's a good concept and believe it has the potential to be a great site.

I am also looking for dedicated volunteers that would be interested in becoming site moderators; writing news articles, posting and replying to messages in our forum, etc. If you are interested you can contact me through the site or directly at support@jobjr.com.

Any further opinions of www.Jobjr.com (http://www.jobjr.com) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Brandon

I found a problem.

The "register now" under the "It's not always 'What You Know', but 'Who You Know' that counts" message can be selected from any horizontal position in that 'box'.

Thanks DJ, I'm going to take a look at it. I'm not sure how to fix this off the top of my head, but I'll try.

Thanks Again,
Brandon

On a 28.8 modem, the site didn't seem to talk any longer than other sites I visit. (www.arstechnica.com and www.devshed.com)

I like the layout, it does indeed look professional.

Heck it's even a good idea ;)

hi,

1. Overall look.

Looks great, very professional.

2. Load time with different connections.

Very fast, since i am using 256Kbps connection here (five to ten seconds)

3. Colors

Great, but i like to have more blue color (personal taste).

4. Any other idea's.

www.jobstreet.com.my is an established site, maybe u can get a few idea's from this site?

Best Regards

Chin

Einstruzende & mcchin , thanks for taking the time to look at my site, and thanks for the kind words. There are still a few minor issues I am working on, but it is probably 98% done.

Thanks again,
Brandon
