Jade basement

I was wondering if anyone had info or thoughts about Jade Basement. I am a newbie to the world of web design and databases, and do not know much about this program/development tool.

Anywhere I can learn more about it? It is the system used on our website (www.neure.com) and my impression has not been favorable.

Never heard of Jade basement. What is it, exactly?

If you're not pleased with it, what are you trying to accomplish? Maybe I can offer some alternative suggestions.

thanks for the reply...the best I can figure is Jade Basement is a database system to help control a website. My guess is it is a system that keeps you tied to the developer who developed the system.

What I want to be able to do is have access to all parts of my website without going through a third party. We have a web based business, and it looks like it was written with Dreamweaver and used ColdFusion as the database element. We have an online directory of professionals and programs specific to brain and spinal cord injury (www.neure.com). What I can't figure is if the site uses Dreamweaver to develop the site, and cold fusion for the database, what do I need Jade Basement for?

It is a long story about the site and how it got developed, etc. I just came here a few months ago, and everything was already developed. My expertise is in brain and spinal cord injury. I know a fair amount about databases and websites. I was just wondering how others develop websites that need decent databases running behind the scenes.

ColdFusion is a server-side scripting language, distributed by MacroMedia.

ColdFusion is tag-based, making it an attractive language to learn for people accustomed to HTML. There are more robust programming solutions to ColdFusion, such as PHP, Perl, Python, and other programming languages which don't start w/ the letter 'P', such as Java Server Pages (JSP) and Active Server Pages (ASP).

Dreamweaver is just your IDE - Integrated Development Environment. It just gives you some build-in features, such as FTP and a design view (short list, there are many other features in Dreamweaver). FWIW, you could use a basic text editor such as Notepad to develop your website.

My guess at this point is that Jade Basement is some kind of database, though I've never heard of it.

If you're looking to move away from the vendor-specific solution of ColdFusion and Jade Basement, I'd suggestion moving your platform to PHP/MySQL. PHP is an open source, well-supported, well-documented and extremely powerful language for developing web applications. MySQL is an open source, well-supported, well-documented, powerful SQL database. The combination is perfect for your website, and would provide you with any functionality that you could possibly need.
