PC crashes i think it may be temperature?

My PC crashes (completley freezes) and i have to reset the pc, im using win2000 duel boot with XP.

It used to crash in Windows 2000 and never in XP, i done an fdisk on all drives and reinstalled all software and resentley the pc started to crash in Win2000 and has now started to crash in XP, can anyone give me any suggestions as to why this happens.

And do these stats look ok from the bios. i have an Athlon 1200Mkz.

CPU Temp 52 C 125f
System Temp 34 C 93f
CPU Fan Speed 5120rpm

Thankyou in advanced

Well, its not due to the cpu temp, thats for sure. 52 is warmer then usual but still within acceptable range (<65). Yes, there is sometimes 'duel' bewteen xp and 2k, so I suggest you choose and use one of them. Especially knowing that there is little or no difference between the two (kernelwise).

Hello AlCapone thanks for your reply

Well to be honest ive actually got three duel boot system with hdr0 as Win2k and XP and hdr1 as Linux (mandrake 8.1 Installed last) it use to happen with win2k before on its own, i would like to just stick with XP but the cd buring software (Nero) has errors and restarts my PC.

The boot loader for linux has priority when booting, would you know how i can undo it and take Linux off should i decide to stick with XP?

Well, I'd stick with xp and I would certainly use another box for linux. Check with your local colleges I bought p200 3g hdd 64 with 15 monitor for $30 on a sale from state school.

As for nero, it works just great on xp, so you should try at least reinstalling it.

will do Thanks for the advice:D
