Setting up my own homegrown server

Hello,

I have been very interested in setting up my own www server (to host my own website) but after doing research I am just more confused. Can anyone shed some light on this subject for me. Here are some of my questions:

1. Does my www server need to have this DNS capability?
2. Right now I have a cable modem which assigns dynamic IP addresses, is setting up my own www server going to be difficult in this case?
3. Does anyone know of some good articles about this topic?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance,

Piet

1) Not really. You can access your site via its IP at all time. You just have to find a way to inform your visitors when your IP changes.
2) Not only is it more difficult, you are making your life harder for not having static IP. When you don't have static IP, it's just unreliable. Why signed up with cable modem service with dynamic IP if you really wanted to play this stuff?
3) Start here -> http://www.google.com/search?q=dynamic+DNS
