Internal or External IP Address?

I have an Apache server installed in a Linux OS. This server resides in a intranet. Usually, a server in an intranet environment have either an internal or external IP address. This server, which I set up does not have a domain name . The problem is I want this server can be accessed from outside of the intranet. The reason I want this to be is because I'm developing a search engine that needs to go out of the the web and get the results. After I request to the network administrator, he gave me to IP address which is an Internal and an External IP addres. Which one should I choose in order to solve the problem or are there any other way to solve it out?

Thanks in advance

Welcome to Dev Shed.

The server needs to be accessed from outside, or you want it to access the outside? To access the server from the outside, you would use the external IP address, but you need to make sure that you have the correct ports open (or forwarded) to point to that server.
