? about Flash + JScript..

Hi

I have a friend that has been trying to do the following............

A flash movie sit's in the center of a page, is there a way to invoke a mousedown or onclick <=javascript over the embeded image/flash/movie to redirect to another page....

We have tried just about all we could think of, the closest we got was layering the link over the embeded F/movie, and all that did was show the (redirect link in the status bar).... in all browsers.....

Any idea's.....

Sorry flash is just not my cup of java!

Thanks!

F!

Why wouldnt you want the link in the Flash movie itself?

Yeah, I agree w/ fataqui. You just need to set an actionscript to your object in the flash movie. If this isn't right, I totally dont understand what you are trying to get at.

Well, if you're using a "stock" flash button or something (i.e. a Flash movie that you don't have the .FLA for), then I would guess that you could use an html anchor right? Just enclose the entire blob of Flash-embed tags in the html with:

<a href="etc..."><embed... {all the flash stuff}... ></a>

Is this something that would work? I don't see why it wouldn't, but someone may have a better answer.

Well there is not a lot involved with putting a flash movie into html. You can figure out how it works by going to File/Publish and publish into html form. (if it doesn't do this automatically go to your publish settings. Then you can just copy and paste what is between the <object> tags into the html that you want to use it in. Simple as that. Make sure to upload the .swf file into the same folder as the parent document. No need to upload the .fla file. It is merely for editing purposes and is not used for the final product. Hope this helps you out. ERiC
