Dancing The Samba (part 2)

Thanks for the article. It is nice to know that samba is becoming more rooted in the server world.
I know that this question is beyond the scope of this article but what I was wondering if there is a way to apply Win 2k policies in Samba. I know that the netlogin directory is to push certin things to the clients but I have been unable to get this to work with win 2k policies. If anyone know how to go about solving this problem that would be great.

Your best bet would be to search the comp.protocols.smb archives on Google Groups to see if someone else has posted your problem before. If you can't find anything, try posting to the group & see if you can get some help that way.

Samba seems to want a username for a machine to end with '$' which FreeBSD won't let me use. Every tutorial that I've seen the command used is 'useradd' which also doesn't exist. It's so frustrating because I would like to set up a roaming profile system with two Win XP computers and I can't find any help on the web for it.

In addition to its core component, Samba comes with a bunch of pretty powerful ancillary utilities: an SMB client, an SMB filesystem mounter, a backup tool, and a Web-based administration utility. Find out how you can use them, inside.
