rc6 on the way ..

It seems some more bugs were fixed
Rc7 will be the final install version
From the firebird dev list :

Several important problems were discovered and fixed after
Firebird 1.5 RC5. We do not have snapshot builds so I think we have
to release RC6. The fixed problems are (in order of decreasing
importance):
1) Memory manager thread unsafety in Win32 CS builds and all SS
client libraries
2) Lock manager problems in Win32 CS
3) DSQL parser problems
4) Stack corruption when database aliases are used

Well yesterday have tested the FirebirdSS rc6 (rpm for linux) .I think in a few days the rc6 will
be in the downloads area of SourceForge .After
that there will be only one rc7 (final) that will be
renamed Firebird 1.5 Final .
Only after that you can wait for a Firebird2.0 RC1 .

You can take the Firebird2.0 Alpha from cvs but is
unstable and unusable , Developers add features
or clean the source code , So there are many bugs , it will take some times for a stable release.
Have builded the v2.0Alpha on RH9 from cvs and
fbserver started , and did connected to the database from examples . But tomorow maybe it will not build ok .
So back to the subject : is better to use the
fb1.5rc5 until there are better builds ;)

Yes, I know. I'm just want to know what it will be new in FB. And, by the way, is there a wish list on the net?

From the developers

CVS HEAD is now open for v2.0 development

The HEAD CVS branch is now open for Firebird V2.0 development. The major goals of this version are:

* Much better scalability and performance (SMP support, improved caching, better optimizer).
* New SQL features (built-in functions, datatypes, statements, metadata object types).
* Better conformance to the latest SQL specification.
* Optimized network protocol.
* Proper security.
* Incremental backup, native monitoring features, engine plugins.

And lots of other stuff. A more detailed list will be published later, after the V1.5 final release.
