ok i have a script that uploads a file and puts all the info in a data bace. right now it gives me the local URL as the download URL. i whant to take the eding off say file.zip and put my web addres infront so when they click the Dl buttion they can DL file.zip. i hope you understand what i mean if you need an example i can give you it.

well i just whent to test it and it dose not work any more it fives me some crap about the <cffile> command. the first time i made this it was on a local PC but i just got a server and moved it on there sooo it might have somthing to do with my server.

but the outside world cant access it, they can only access form the default port, which is 8500, can u tell me how u change the port so taht OUTSIDE world can access it

hey man i tried it but its not working, i downloaded this http://mirrors.ccs.neu.edu/Apache/dist/httpd/binaries/win32/apache_1.3.27-win32-x86-no_src.msi and installed it and as u can see in this image, http://www.mattjacob.org/server/images/apache_02.png i get the NETWORK DOMAIN as localhost and the SERVER NAME i gave my IP which is 67.85.218.53 it all went good and i can access http://67.85.218.53/ but the outside world cant access it, can u please help me with that

If you mean how do you open port 80 on your firewall/router, that's something you'd have to look up in the documentation for your network device, each one is different. Most have a web-based administration interface to let you mangage the device.
If you are using a software firewall like blackice or zonealarm, you'll need to configure it to allow requests on port 80.
An alert: I'd be VERY careful enabling port 80 on your home computer if you don't know what you are doing. Be prepared for hackers to attack that box, at both the OS and network levels.
i think its safe i have bin running my server will all ports open but i do have norton. anyway i have had no hackers or any thing ells. well that i know of. you cxan look through my system all day long there is nothing usfull on it. but if you chang 1 thing i will kill you. have a nice day.
