Problem with I815 ; Warning CPU has changed ....

Hi,

I did googling and found lots of the same error but happen only with Asus motherboard. For me it is i815. Usually when I turn off the power, leave it over the night and the morning turn on, first it hangs, Push reset button several times until I heard the beep ; and saw a message on the screen. Warning The CPU has changed. Press F1 to continue or Del to enter setup and change the frequency..

If hit F1 the machine boot and works ok but reboot it has the same warning message.

If hit Del and do nothing, just exit and save to cmos, hte machine works and if even reboot or turn it off for a short time, it doesn't show this problem. Only turn off for a rather long time.

In BIOS there is no such option to change the CPU frequency.

I suspect the BIOD battery, and buy new one, replace it ; it doesn't solve the problem

Should I upgrade the BIOS? Any idea how to solve it?

Thanks in advance.

do a bit of reading on the bios versions released after yours was, read them all, see if any address the issue you have, if any of them do download the latest one, it will have that fix also, but if they dont mention it i would contact them directly and see if it is a known issue. asus has good tech support, they are not good with english, but very helpful and usually provide links with the needed info. check you bios, on the basic setup screen with the clock controls change (halt on ) to no errors, i think asus default is all but keyboard, and see if that stops the bootup problem until you find the patch or update.

A simple and effective solution for me was this:
1. go into bios
2. set Bios or Cmos Cache to enable or yes.

Good luck
Tell me if it works for you.
