???Chip underclock???

I just got a Mach Speed V400 KT400 Socket A Motherboard with a AMD Athlon XP2500+ / 512KB Cache / 333MHz FSB / Socket A / Barton Core / Processor but when it boots it boots at 1.1ghz. i looked in the bios but can't find anyway to increase the speed. Can anyone help me? the Chipset is
VIA Apollo KT400 System controller and VT8225 High Bandwidth Vlink Client South Bridge and i have latest update

your motherboard probably has a dram jumper close to the ram slots, need to set it at the speed of your processor and ram, the board is probably dual supportive of for example duron/athlon which have different bus speeds. use the setup manual, that came with the board or download it from the manufacturer's site to find the location and proper setting.

thanks it worked

I know this is an old topic, but I just picked up a system I might buy from someone and I have the same issue, however I don't see any jumpers near the RAM slots. The system:

AMD Athlon XP2500+ / Socket A (Barton)
MSI MS-6712 Motherboard (VIA KT400A Chipset / VT8235 Southbridge)
AMI BIOS (v07.00T)

There are settings in the BIOS for overclocking, but I have very little experience with setting the clock frequency, so I don't want to tinker with it. I did change the CPU FSB clock speed from 100 to 200, because I know the multiplier is at 11 right now. So I figure 11x100 = 1.1GHz (which it's running at now) so 11x200 = 2.2GHz, which is well under the 2500+ advertised on the chip. Well when I saved the settings and reset, I got as far as the WindowsXP loading screen, and then it just resets itself. Then I read that you must disable the spread spectrum if you overclock because even a little jitter can lock the system up, so I did that, and still nothing. Also, after changing those values, after selecting a few options in the BIOS, it appeared that the screen was not redrawing. That is to say, It basically didn't erase pop-up menus after I'd made a selection from them in the BIOS. So everything began stacking up on top of each other, and I couldn't read a damn thing. Once I finally reset the settings back to default, the problem went away.

This is all new to me, and I'm a little concerned that there may be another issue with this thing. Sorry about the post being attached to such an old topic, but I figured a little history on the subject would be best.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know - I don't want to buy this thing if it has problems!

THANK YOU!!

2500+ != 2.5ghz. The fsb should be 166 (11*166=1.83ghz, which is the right speed). Right now you're trying a pretty big overclock, hence the problems.
