remote power switch

I am in the process of up grading my case because of room and heat problems. I baught an antec atx server case. The pwr-sw,hd-led and all are 2 0r 3 wir conector type. my motherboard and old case hooked up with one big conector ribon typefor the pwr-sw etc. Is there a converter or something your am I just screwed.:confused:

do you have a manual for the motherboard, if not, what brand and model number. if this board came in a hp , dell, compaq,............. this would also be very useful info

No there is no manual,but yes it is a dell model 8200 motherboard is a model 1t751 with 850e chip set and 533fsb

i found a couple of pictures of the board on ebay(no help) dell was unwilling to provide me with link(usual). on the board it's self, where the front panel connectors attatch, does it have any lettering next to the pins? for example pwr, +hdd-, rst,..if you have a after market case the wires should be labled in much the same way, the power and reset leads make no difference + or -, but the power led, and hard drive led must be correctly + or -, it doesnt hurt if they get crossed, they just wont work, this being a dell board it may or may not have a reset on the board(should) but dont mean it will. if the board has no lettering, look at the plug from the orriginal case, follow the wires to what they went to, power switch, power led,....ect. write down the colors and what they attatch to, then match the plug to the board and make a map of the pins.

No there is no markings on either end. And the end going to power switch is another board with pins not marked. It looks like i will have to buy another board.

from the specs this looks like a nice board, if you bought the pc new from dell they will probably send you the layout, or a link to it if you explain that you had to change cases. they will not respond to me on this, because i cannot provide a serial number or proof of purchase for thier product.

No they wont I spent the better part of today talking to them. If I figure it out I will make a converter set up a web site and sell it just because they are not willing to help. (LOL) But no thats why they did it so it was theres and onlt theres.

this information could be wrong, but from much searching i have almost come to the conclusion this is a intel board, i am not sure if dell had the pins arranged differently. the model number you posted brings this up at the intel site, which makes sense because this board has the same chipset, the difference being, this one list a 400mhz fsb where you list a 533mhz fsb, but in the dell tech forums many post about the dimension 8200 supposed to be a 533, but they have a 400 so............i dont know, it's the best and closest i have come, it looks just like the dell 8200 boards i seen pictured on ebay.

yes it is an intel board but it is an oem board just for dell. There is 31 pins in there conector so it dose not match the one you found. I think I will call intell Monday and see if they will give me the info dell would not.
