CPU Fan not working correctly

As I use my computer under high stress, the processor temperature rises rapidly – yet, the CPU fan does not increase in RPM as the temps rise. I am running a P4 3.06 – idle temp is around 47c however, with 5 minutes of playing a game (or something requiring substantial processing power) I am looking at 75c.

However, the CPU fan remains at a constant 3200 RPM. It has the ability to run at 5000 RPM. Is there any way of correcting this problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Your fan should have come with a manual speed control. You should use this to get the fan to higher speeds.

If u don't have the manual speed control. Then find where your heat sensor is and reposition it as close to the cpu as possible. Then the sensor should get better temp readings and thereby the speed will go up higher.
