Review this site http://www.synergeez.com

Hi,

I really do appreciate this new forum!

This is my first site I have ever created. Many thanks to those who have helped me in the devshed forums on particular questions on PHP and MySQL.

I just switched it on about 3 weeks ago and would like to get any general / design / and layout feedback on it.

http://www.synergeez.com

It is a military art imaging site where people can purchase images of ships/aircraft and have them framed as well.

Any suggestions (good or bad) will be highly appreciated.

Thanks

Dano

I like the site a lot, clean layout and very easy to navigate.

But, w henever my mouse is over that window it constantly switches between hourglass and normal - the browser isn't working, I don't know what's going on but it was giving me a dreadful headache. It's like 1 second normal, 1 second hourglass, rotte through forever.

Might want to fix that. =)

HI Lisa,

Thanks for taking the time out to review it.

I certainly don't want any headaches! What browser are you using and which page were you on that caused this hourglass back to normal switching thing to keep coming up?

IE 6.0 PC - all pages =/

that is odd.....I have tried it on 3 computers and do not see that. mmmmm that is odd! Will be curious if anyone else sees that

thanks and i will certainly fix that if I can actually see it

I run two pc's side by side, and it's happening on both - I thought it might be only that one but...

no idea how to troubleshoot this one tho, good luck =)

see if it happens now on just this page --> http://www.synergeez.com

I made some changes to the code that might have been the problem.

if it still does it, then this could keep me up all nighty thinkin about it

Thanks Lisa

this is the first site you EVER created and your using php and mysql... hmm. I dont believe that. Good job anyway =P.

it is with php and mysql really.....it took me almost 5 months to create.

It's fixed =) I love the site now that I can look at it *grins*

Amazing job.

If I may ask - what was causing that? I've never seen it before....

Good job on your site! Pretty good.

Thank you Reactor and Lisa!

What was causing it was my logo.....See where the swoosh is before the "S" in Synergeez? Well I had an animated jpeg that would create the swooshing effect. So I just disabled that one script. That is a bummer because I liked that swooshing effect. I have not seen that happen (what you saw) on any machine that I have worked on. I have tested the site on many browsers with different versions to make sure it was compatible for most/majority of the people.

Lisa you have been a great sport..... I know I am probably pushing my luck here......but what OS are you running from. Maybe that is the only thing I have overlooked since pretty much all the machines I have access to are W2000.

Anyway thanks again....maybe I will have to create the swoosh as an animated gif (GIF colors were limited, that is why I used jpeg format for it)

XP =)

Last I checked it was still happening on the subpages, may want to double check those.

I'm more than happy to help anytime I can!

yeah I didn't disable it on the sub-pages I was just debugging and only did the homepage......

Ok this is definitely the last question... :D ha ha ha I forgot that I had tested it on XP as well.....so now are you on cable modem/DSL/or dial up?

Cable modem, Optimum Online....

Feel free to ask more ;p

No problem Dano

Lisa......I figured it out!

You must have "Every Visit to the Page" selected in your browser settings. Since that animated jpeg I guess is being downloaded everytime(?) then it keeps blinking on/off the hour glass on the cursor. I duplicated it on my computer.

That is wierd that it is constantly downloading that swish from the server every 1/2 a second or so. Is that what it is doing..... i thought once the images were on your machine that it would go to cache to find them. What do you think?

Well at least problem has been identified

Dano

I do have that setting on; I hate caches....

Are you purposely preloading? That may help but this has pretty much gone way beyond my area of expertise =)

great site man, only one suggestion on apperance, i would try to change the colors to your scroll bar to somthing liek black and grey to match the rest of your site. of course this is just a matter of opinion. if you want to do this and you need help doing so just let me know.
