Turn face into contours

I want to take an image of someones face and turn it into a futuristic looking set of contour lines, kind of a 3-D contour map of the face. Are there any filters i can download that people know of or is there a particular technique i can use..?

Thanks.

I don't belive there is. Most people trace over an image with a 3D program to get that effect.

I don't believe there is one that will really do what you want. The problem is that Photoshop works with 2D images, therefore the program can not differentiate between plains properly. I would assume that any filter that would attempt this would use Lights and Darks to tell where two plains meet. The problem with that is that if you don't have a real distinct shadow, it might not have too many lines. You would probably have to use a drawing tool and do it youself. But if not....URL=http://www.redfieldplugins.com/samAroundFace.htm]here is a filter you can try out[/URL] .

Convert the image to grayscale and try using it as a height map. I dunno if thats what your after at all, but it might make something interesting.

I just tried this out -- neat trick. Thanks.
