Geforce Ti4400 problem

Within the last 5 days or so my system fan quit without me knowing (no temp monitor and i rarely restart) a few days ago my video card started acting strange in games. the polygons would flicker all over the place at random. Now this only happens in full screen games and ive tried many.

I've made sure i have the newest drivers for the card (53.03) ive rolled back the drivers and reinstalled them. uninstalled the whole card and then reinstalled with newest drivers, reinstalled my OS, reseated the card itself. This is driving me nuts. Dell is sending me a new Motherboard cause the slot for the fan is what quit. (got my fan running off one of the power supply cables for right now)

my question is: Is there anything i havent thought of that i can do to troubleshoot this farther? Is it possible that the fan not working for a few days could have ruined the card or the agp slot on the motherboard?

My system spec are:

Win. XP Pro
P4 1500mhz
768mb RDram
Geforce 4 Ti4400

I had the same problem with my TI-4200 GeForce. From what I have been gathering on searching the net the GeForce's have a problem of overheating because of bad heat sink/cooling design.

Since your system fan is out it is probably just overheating. When you get the fan working again it might fix your problem. In the meantime you might put a fan next to your case to get the air circulating in it to help cool it down.

In my case I have to get a different graphics card. I have only had it about a year and it worked fine until a few weeks ago. I have a fan on the card, a system fan, plus two additional fans installed in my case. It still has problems.

ya i rerouted my system fan to run directly off the powersupply instead of the motherboard. the fan on the actual vid card is still running. It probably is overheating as you say since the problem happens off and on

Figured out that my powersupply wasnt enough to power everything once i put the system fan on it (only 250w) once i unplugged the zip drive i never use my video card ran just fine. Hope this helps you linhardt
