Setting IE to print legal

I was just wondering if there is a way for IE (Internet Explorer) to have the page size defaulted as "Legal" when printing.

My company is running web software that prints out documents that needs to be legal size but in Internet Explorer, the default size is letter. Even if we change the size to legal, once IE is closed, it is reset to letter. It is tedious to always have to change the paper size within the Page Setup.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Is this even possible?

The page settings cannot be changed by browser scripts. This is something that will need to be changed on the printer driver. The printer driver has a default setting and will go back to that each time a program is loaded or closed.

If you want complete control over the document use a proper document format like PDF. HTML was designed for displaying information on the screen.

Also this question is not a business or legal issue. Please look at where you post things.

Actually, this is possible. I encountered the same situation and I have since discovered it was a permissions issue on the printer.

You can find detailed steps here:

Note: Although the above link refers to the Distiller printer, what worked for me was to add the IUser account to the desired printer on the webserver and give it the necessary permissions. In my case it is an internal website; however, I am not sure of the security implications for a public website.
